  • Optimised Re-engineering of Pump Parts

The effect of operating a pump away from the best efficiency point (BEP) has a detrimental effect on pump efficiency and wastes energy and money.

In addition to being very inefficient it causes a multitude of problems. These include excessive noise and vibration, cavitation, shaft oscillation, premature failure of mechanical seals, bearings, wear rings and impellors.

Pumptec Engineering are able to resolve these problems by arranging re-engineering of impellers so that they operate at the established best efficiency point. The efficiency of the pump will be improved as will the reliability of the complete pump so reducing the overall cost of ownership.

One such application has operated successfully for three years following a previously very unreliable installation at a large chemical plant in Cheshire.

  • Pump management and reliability contract win for Pumptec

Pumptec has been awarded a pump management and reliability contract at a UK Paper Mill. The contract covers over 350 pumps from various pump manufacturers.

  • Pumptec awarded "Safe Contractor" status

Pumptec is very proud to announce our achievement in ‘Safe Contractor’ status. Our clients often comment on how we work safely within their premises, this accreditation is further evidence of our commitment to protect our staff and clients.

Pumptec has been awarded a three-year maintenance contract covering five submersible pump installations at a Cold Store facility in the Midlands. In addition to carrying out regular inspections and planned maintenance, the contract has also involved Pumptec in completely upgrading the effluent sump installation by supplying and installing new pumps, pipe work, valves and controls.

  • UK chemical plant goes wireless

Following a successful trial period Pumptec has now installed a John Crane ‘3in1’ wireless system on two pumps at a UK chemical plant. This is the first installation of the system in the world and allows the customer to monitor the performance of the double mechanical seals and their associated thermosyphon systems remotely from the Control Room. This technology has enabled Pumptec to provide the customer with significant improvements in reliability with the associated savings in maintenance and downtime cost.

  • UK power station pump repairs

Pumptec has been awarded a contract to reduce maintenance cost and downtime on eight 10” horizontal split casing pumps handling corrosive seawater and silt at a UK Power Station. The work has involved upgrading the mechanical seals and sealing environment to achieve the client’s objective of increasing MTBF (meantime between failures) from the current unacceptable levels. The first pumps to be converted have now been working for nearly three years without a seal failure.
